Same beans, same machine, different shot

One morning the shot is sweet and syrupy. The next it’s sour and gushing, and you didn’t change a thing. Or did you? This espresso dial in kit takes the guesswork out, so you can change one thing at a time and taste the result.

Why measure?

Dialling in is about three numbers: dose in, coffee out and time. Weigh and time every shot, spread the grounds evenly and tamp level, and the only thing left to adjust is your grind. That’s how cafés pull the same great shot all day.

What’s in the kit

• Rhino Stealth espresso scale: slim enough for the drip tray, water resistant (IP65), with a built-in brew timer
• VST 18g precision basket: precisely matched holes for an even extraction
• Rhino needle tamper (58mm): a weighted tamper with a WDT needle tool hidden in the handle to break up clumps
• Bruer scale dosing cup: weigh your beans and grounds right in the cup
• Rhino corner tamping mat: holds the portafilter steady and protects your bench

How to dial in

1. Grind 18g into the dosing cup, pour into the basket and stir with the needle tool.
2. Tamp level on the mat, then brew on the Stealth scale and start the timer.
3. Aim for about 36g out in 25–30 seconds. Too fast? Grind finer. Too slow? Grind coarser.

• Fits 58mm portafilters, such as most E61 group head machines. Please check your basket size before ordering.
• The VST basket takes 17–19g. The Stealth scale reads in 0.1g steps up to 2kg and charges by USB-C.
