The machine is on the bench. Now what?
You’ve unboxed it, filled the tank and watched it heat up for the first time. Then you realise the plastic tamper is flimsy, there’s nowhere for the used coffee to go, and the milk jug is still on your shopping list. Our espresso machine starter kit fills those gaps in one go.
Why the tools matter
A good machine only does half the work. A solid tamper gives you an even, level puck, a scale with a timer stops you guessing how much coffee goes in and how long the shot runs, and a temperature sticker on the jug tells you exactly when the milk is ready. Get these basics right and your coffee tastes like it came from a café, not a kitchen.
What’s in the kit
- Rhino 58mm tamper (silver): weighty and comfortable for a level tamp
- Rhino Classic 600ml milk jug: the all-round size for one or two milk drinks
- Rhino corner tamping mat: protects your bench and holds the portafilter steady
- Rhino stainless steel knock box: somewhere tidy for used pucks
- Rhino Stealth espresso scale: slim enough for the drip tray, with a built-in brew timer
- Rhino Accutemp stick-on thermometers (2 pack): one for the jug, plus a spare. They turn from green to black when the milk is ready
- Clean Machine Monster cloths (2 pack): one for the steam wand, one for the bench
Your first shot
- Weigh 18–20g of freshly ground coffee into the basket.
- Tamp on the mat with firm, even pressure until the bed is level.
- Brew on the Stealth scale with the timer running: aim for about twice your dose in the cup in 25–30 seconds. Then knock the puck into the box.
Good to know
- The tamper and tamping mat suit standard 58mm portafilters. Please check your machine’s basket size before ordering.
- The Stealth scale reads in 0.1g steps up to 2kg, is water resistant (IP65) and charges by USB-C.
- Ships direct within 1–2 business days. Delivery is calculated at checkout.
The last piece: great beans
